About Patta Chitta and Adangal extracts – Tamil Nadu Land Records System

Patta Chitta are Tamil Nadu Land Records that provide information on ownership of land and crop details. Tamil Nadu State has implemented the online Land Records system (e-Services) which has made available these Land Records (Patta Chitta and Adangal extracts) online for general public. The online software system is developed by National Informatics Center (NIC) in association with Revenue Department of Government of Tamil Nadu. Patta, Chitta and Adangal extracts are available at  http://edistrict.tn.gov.in:8080/eservicesnew/index.html.

Tamil Nadu Land Records (Patta, Chitta, Adangal) are availabel online for 27 out of 32 districts of Tamil Nadu – Ariyalur, Coimbatore, Cuddalore, Dharmapuri, Dindigul, Erode, Kancheepuram, Kanyakumari, Karur, Krishnagiri, Madurai, Nagapattinam, Namakkal, Nilgiris, Perambalur, Pudukottai, Ramanathapuram, Salem, Sivagangai, Thanjavur, Thoothukkudi, Tirunelveli, Tiruppur, Tiruvannamalai, Vellore, Villupuram, Virudhunagar. Digitization of land records for other districts is under process.

What is Patta, Chitta and Adangal extract?

Patta is a land revenue record which establishes the title/ ownership of land. The Patta Register is maintained at Taluk office and contains ownership details of all Land holdings.

Chitta is an extract from Patta register that gives ownership details of land that belong to a person or persons. The specific information that Patta/ Chitta extract contains include Village, Taluk, District, Land Owner’s name with Father’s name,  Patta number, Survey Number with sub-division details.

Adangal is the extract from A- Register, maintained at VAO office. Adangal records provide more details about type of land and purpose of land. The Adangal extract contains information like Survey Number wise holdings, field area, tenancy details, crops & cultivation details etc.

1. Open Tamil Nadu Land Records website. Choose your preferred language – English/ Tamil.

2. On the home page, you can select your service from – “View Patta Copy / A-Register Extract” and “Verify Web Issued Patta / A-Register Extract”.

To view Patta Copy/ A-Register Extract:

a) Click on “View Patta/ Chitta Extract” to check Patta Copy (Chitta Extract), or use direct link – http://edistrict.tn.gov.in:8080/eservicesnew/land/chitta.html?lan=en.

b) Click on “View A-Register Extract” to check Adangal record, or use direct link – http://edistrict.tn.gov.in:8080/eservicesnew/land/areg.html?lan=en.

3. Enter your Land Details – District, Taluk, Village, Patta Number, Survey Number & Sub-Division Number. Click on Submit to generate report.

4. Save your Patta Chitta Extract or Adangal (A-Register) Extract

Why is Patta, Chitta or Adangal extract required ?

Land records such as Patta Chitta extract and/ or Adangal extract may be required for various purposes, such as

  1. Required at Sub-Registrar’s office during property registration.
  2. For land title verification.
  3. To know genuineness of seller (owner) of land.
  4. For taking bank loan.
  5. For personal purposes.
  6. Required in Court in case of any civil litigation.
